Disability Inclusion
Description
People with disabilities are over-represented in poverty, but the right support can make a difference. Tearfund’s partners work with people living with disabilities, and their families, to enjoy meaningful opportunities, restored relationships and community participation.
How your gift helps
People with disabilities are consistently over-represented in poverty. Tearfund’s partners support people living with disabilities so they can enjoy meaningful opportunities, restored relationships and avenues to contribute to their communities.
“My visual impairment has not stopped me,” says Victor. After he lost his sight 10 years ago, Victor connected with Tearfund’s partner Sudan Evangelical Mission (SEM) and joined the farmers’ and savings groups SEM facilitates in his village in South Sudan. SEM helped him to see that “disability is not inability”, and supported him in learning to manage the tasks of daily living. Today he’s an active farmer, and participates in the life of his community.
