Business Kick-Starter
Description
Without a stable source of income, families can struggle under the burden of poverty. Help secure a livelihood and improve social participation by kick-starting a small business through a support network, training in new skills and access to a loan.
How your gift helps
The right support can help someone who’s impacted by poverty to kick-start a business and secure a stable income.
Christine received training in tailoring and a loan to buy a sewing machine through Tearfund’s local Christian partner in Uganda, Vision Terudo. She’s now running a tailoring business and enjoys making all kinds of designs – her favourite is the traditional pleated Karamajong skirt.
Christine is known in neighbouring communities for her sewing skills, and receives a lot of business. She’s repaying her loan through the profits she’s making and says her whole household has benefitted from her new business, particularly her children.
