The urgent challenge
Many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people experience daily injustice that has led to ill health, poverty, family breakdown and alarming rates of incarceration. For many, an immense sense of grief and loss is also a daily reality. Colonisation and dispossession and removal from land has had a profound impact on the culture and existence of First Nations Peoples in Australia.
That’s why Tearfund is passionate about supporting community development work in First Peoples communities, led by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Christian leaders.
How your gift helps
Tearfund partners with Nungalinya College in the Northern Territory on a course called Faith and Family Wellbeing.
“This course equips participants to respond to issues of domestic and family violence and trauma through a lens of Wellbeing.”
It’s a valuable opportunity for participants to gain skills in leading their communities through these complex issues, so they can work together to drive genuine, lasting change and build stronger, healthier families.
