It’s hard to believe, but 3.6 billion people around the world lack access to adequate toilets. Tearfund’s partners work with communities to build toilets, handwashing stations, and other vital infrastructure -- improving health, hygiene, safety, and dignity.

This is one of 44 community schools in Zambia where students are enjoying better access to water and sanitation, with support from Tearfund’s partner Reformed Open Community Schools (ROCS). Simple but effective measures like sturdy new toilet blocks, handwashing taps and hygiene training, have reduced sickness, and improved school attendance.
